Presented by the Foundation for Australian Literary Studies, the Award, established in 1967, recognises the most outstanding original book, as determined by the judges, that was first published in Australia during the preceding calendar year.  Submissions explore any aspect of Australian life and may be in any genre or form of writing, whether verse or prose.
